Montclair Hospital Medical Center Expands Community Classes For Parents-to-Be

03-17-2017

(Montclair, CA – March 7, 2017) – Montclair Hospital Medical Center (MHMC) announces new, free classes for expecting parents-to-be, held in the facility.

Free prenatal classes, open to any expecting parents, will cover what to expect when delivering in a hospital setting as well as the basics of breastfeeding. “It is so important that parents, especially mothers, understand what to expect in a hospital setting whether it is their first or third child,” shares Janaya Eggert, RN, MSN, CLE/C, and Manager of the Birthplace at Montclair Hospital. “We want to help our community parents prepare for their new additions, so we started the classes toward that effort. So far, we’ve partnered with some Community Based Organizations and have had successes with that so we wanted to bring the classes in-house.” Prenatal classes are offered on the second Thursday of each month in English, but can also be offered in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese if we have interested parties RSVP.

In addition to prenatal classes, MHMC also offers a Baby-Shower and Tour of the Birthplace for expecting mothers on every third Thursday of each month. An RSVP is required in order to attend this class and tour so that the staff can adequately prepare light refreshments and giveaways for the mothers that attend. Mrs. Eggert continues, “we want our patients to feel comfortable and as much ‘at home’ as possible. Being in a hospital is intimidating but we try to make up for that by offering the compassionate care and quaint setting for mothers and their families, should they decide to deliver at Montclair Hospital.” Both classes are RSVP required and will be confirmed by a birth clerk once attendees call to schedule their class or tour date at 909-625-8146.
