(Montclair, Calif., August 22, 2016) – Montclair Hospital Medical Center (MHMC) was one of few area hospitals chosen by Nike, in honor of Diana Taurasi, to distribute free Nike Waffle 1 infant shoes to families who delivered on August 20th, 2016.

As a way to celebrate Diana Taurasi, Guard for U.S. Women’s Basketball, Nike surprised new families at our hospital with a pair of baby shoes to unleash their future potential as part of their “Just Do It – Nike Unlimited" campaign. MHMC delivered seven babies the weekend U.S. Women’s Basketball brought home their 6th Gold Medal defeating Spain by 101-72.

"It’s exciting to celebrate Ms. Taurasi, who attended Don Antonio Lugo High School, Chino, CA and U.S. Women’s Basketball,” says James M. Lally, DO, MMM, Chief Medical Officer of Montclair Hospital Medical Center. “This outreach brings a sense of gratitude and enthusiasm to her hometown.” He continues, “It really is inspiring to our community when professional athletes, such as Diana, give back.”

A special note was included inside each box of shoes that read:

“It all starts now. 34 years ago, it started in Chino for a little champ just like you. And today Diana Taurasi conquered the world. Maybe, someday, that can be you. Or maybe you’ll choose to do something else. There really are no limits to your potential. Whatever you decide, get up. Get out. And get started. Life moves fast. And in these, it will move a little faster. Just Do It.”

Olympic spirit runs through the heart of both Chino Valley Medical Center and Montclair Hospital Medical Center. Dr. James M. Lally is an Olympic Physician for the International Shooting Sports Federation and just returned from his 6th Summer Olympic Games. His journey began in 1993, when he volunteered at a World Cup shooting event at the site of the 1984 Olympic Games, in Chino, California. From becoming the team physician to serving as the President of USA Shooting, and the National Governing Body for shooting sports in the United States for the second time, he also sits as the Chairman of the medical committee of the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF).
