Montclair Hospital Medical Center Shares Culture with Foreign Exchange Students

02-03-2014

On Thursday, January 30th 2014, fourteen foreign exchange students from China visited and toured Montclair Hospital Medical Center as part of their Educational Resource Development Trust Program (ERDT/enVision).

In 1974 Educational Resource Development Trust was founded by Dr. Roger Riske with a goal of creating partnerships and increasing awareness in local communities of health issues, cultural challenges and to encourage education through exchange programs. Their principle message is to help enhance every individuals potential and value by nurturing both compassion and respect for cultural diversities and social challenges.

The SHARE! Division of ERDT offers many different exchange programs to participants with the opportunity to experience first-hand other cultures, traditions and ways of life. Montclair Hospital Medical Center had the privilege of providing tours, hosting and educating fourteen foreign exchange students and staff from ERDT. The students toured all departments of the hospital, meeting and interacting with department directors, staff and physicians. "It's wonderful to be able to expose our culture to others," says Olivia Casillas with ERDT. "The eagerness to learn about our culture from this group was overwhelming. That's why enVision does what we do!" After the tour, the students enjoyed lunch with the staff of MHMC and recieved goody bags as both a thank you and a remembrance of their experience. We at MHMC want to thank enVision for allowing us the privilege of sharing our culture with your group.
